Our skins are all specially processed for bookbinding purposes and are vegetable tanned and aniline dyed.  \r\n\r\nGoatskins tend to have a more resilient surface than Calfskins, and have a more pronounced texture.  Goatskins textures vary depending on the techniques used by the tannery.  For example, our French Chagreen skins are hand boarded, which creates their distinctive fine crushed pattern.  \r\n \r\nMost skins will require thinning, or paring.
